Natural light adds many benefits to a room. It can reduce eye-strain, have positive physiological impacts on our bodies, reduce reliance on artificial light and electricity, increase aesthetic appeal, and even increase property value. Skylights and solar tubes can provide more natural light than a window, and be positioned to provide light from an ambient glow to a bright workspace.
Solar tubes work well for maximizing daylight in tight-fit areas as well as areas that need focused or task lighting. These work for both sloped and flat roofs. Solar tubes work like a a small sun catcher and was designed to be installed almost anywhere. A collector sits above the roof and channels the sunlight through reflective pipe to a light diffuser below. The light output is exceptionally bright without having to make structural changes.
Skylights bring more of the best parts of nature into a home. Skylights provide bright filtered light to a wider area than the solar tube. This decreases the shadows caused by artificial lighting. Skylights can also have the option for ventilation, helping to cool your home. Skylights work best on sloped roofs as rain water should readily flow away from it.
Why add a skylight or solar tube?
